Marisol Villacrés

Affiliation: Ph.D. student, Human-Centered Computing, Georgia Tech

Focus: Resilience, Situated Learning, Culture and Technology

I am a first-year PhD student in Human-Centered Computing at Georgia Tech. I hold a BSc in Computer Engineer from ESPOL and a Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction Design from Indiana University Bloomington. I have over 15 years of experience as a Computer Science educator.

I am particularly drawn to explore the design of technologies that can support the learning process of individuals and groups otherwise marginalised, considering their cultural and social context. I am currently interested in using a situated learning perspective to explore the role of technology in the resilience of groups that have faced life-changing events, such as migration or natural disasters.
